The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on the 18th that two oil tankers
exploded and caught fire while transiting a mined area in the southern Strait of
Hormuz. The IRGC said the Strait is "completely closed" because of recent US
military actions and that oil and gas shipments cannot transit until the US
halts its operations, warning vessels to avoid the mined area. The statement
gave no details on the tankers' nationality, casualties or damage.
