China published its 15th Five-Year Plan for forestry and grassland on July 22
protection and utilization. The plan sets a by-2030 target to secure decisive
victories in the Three-North Afforestation campaign’s three flagship operations,
complete integration and optimization of nature reserves, and continuously
improve the quality and service functions of forest, grassland, wetland and
desert ecosystems. It aims to diversify supply and consumption scenarios for
forestry and grassland products and lift the sector’s total output value. Policy
measures include large-scale national greening actions, full construction of a
protected-areas system, scaling up forestry and grassland industry, reinforcing
ecological-security capabilities, deepening reforms in key areas, and promoting
innovation-driven development and international cooperation.
