[SK Hynix and South Korean Union Hold Negotiations on Bonuses] On Tuesday, representatives from SK Hynix and its South Korean labor union held their fifth round of bonus negotiations at the SK Hynix factory in Cheongju. The two sides disagreed on the generous bonus package. Last year, SK Hynix agreed to distribute 10% of its annual operating profit to its employees. According to Reuters calculations, this means that each employee could receive an average bonus of 779 million won (approximately US$547,127) in 2026. In a notice to its members, the union stated that management proposed paying more than half of the bonuses in the form of stock, with restrictions on its sale within a certain period. The notice also indicated that the company wanted to adjust bonus payments in the event of losses. The union, however, stated that it would absolutely not accept any arrangement that would expose its members to the risk of stock price fluctuations.
