Researchers at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with collaborators using the newly completed High Intensity Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) has produced and identified the rare nucleus hafnium-153. This is the facility’s first physics result during commissioning and HIAF’s capability to explore unknown nuclide and extend the nuclide chart. The results were published in the journal Science Bulletin.
