A survey of institutions found economists raised South Korea growth forecasts as
Strong global semiconductor demand, led by AI-chip uptake, boosts activity.
Respondents now expect GDP to expand 3.3% in 2026, up from 2.8% in the July
survey. Forecasts were also nudged higher to 2.3% in 2027 and 2.1% in 2028. The
2026 survey projection of 3.3% exceeds the South Korean government’s 3.0%
forecast published last month, which followed stronger-than-expected Q2 GDP.
