The Ministry of Natural Resources said the National Marine Forecasting Center this morning (11th) issued a storm surge yellow alert. Outer bands of Typhoon No.13 "Baihaidun" (tropical storm) are expected to produce 30–60 cm storm surge along the coast from Dandong, Liaoning to Rizhao, Shandong between the morning of Aug. 11 and the morning of Aug. 12. Qinhuangdao (Hebei) is under a yellow storm-surge warning; Dalian, Yingkou and Huludao (Liaoning), Tangshan (Hebei), and Weifang, Weihai and Rizhao (Shandong) are under blue warnings.

Security policy and defense analyst Wolfgang Pustay said the trilateral defense pact signed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is currently "only on paper." He noted that after recent Houthi attacks there has been no deployment of Pakistani or Turkish forces to Saudi Arabia, and that Turkey has not mounted a substantive response to Iranian missile strikes affecting Gulf states including Saudi Arabia. Pustay said that without actual troop deployments or Pakistani and Turkish personnel being affected by attacks on Saudi Arabia, the joint-defense agreement will struggle to take effect.
