On Aug. 28 local time the Trump administration appealed a federal court ruling
that had prevented its mail‑in voting rule from taking effect. U.S. District
Judge Indira Talwani issued a 14‑day temporary restraining order on Aug. 27
suspending the U.S. Postal Service’s enforcement of the new mail‑in voting rules
and set a Sept. 3 hearing to consider a longer injunction.
