President Trump posted on social media on the 28th saying the US has reached an
agreement with Venezuela to obtain 'majority control' of more than 65 billion
barrels of the country's proven oil reserves through cooperation with private
firms. He said the deal would cost US taxpayers nothing and would 'more than
double' US oil reserves, materially boost supply and significantly lower US
gasoline prices for an extended period. Trump did not disclose details and the
White House has not issued an official statement.
