India's GDP rose 7.8% YoY in the April–June quarter, the Ministry of Statistics
and Program Implementation said, matching the prior quarter and exceeding the
median economist forecast of 7.3%. The print reduces near-term concern that the
Iran conflict could sharply dent growth. The Reserve Bank of India had projected
7% growth for the quarter and 6.7% for the fiscal year. RBI left the policy rate
at 5.25% in August but signaled further hikes may be needed later this year if
Inflation pressures intensify, complicating the interest-rate outlook.
