The National Health Commission, the National Administration of Traditional
Chinese Medicine and the National Disease Control Bureau jointly released a Work
Plan to Accelerate Provision of High‑quality and Efficient Eye Health Services
(2026–2030). The plan prioritizes key populations and eye diseases, strengthens
the full prevention–screening–diagnosis–treatment–rehabilitation service chain
and aims to establish a life‑course eye health system delivering equitable,
accessible, continuous, high‑quality care. Targets by 2030 include steady rises
in refractive‑error screening for ages 0–6 and for primary/secondary students, a
national cataract-surgery rate above 4,000 per 1 mln population, independent
diagnosis/treatment capacity for common eye diseases in over 95% of counties,
and cataract surgery availability in every county.
