Sept. 14 — Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun, at a routine briefing,
dismissed claims by U.S. AI companies that Chinese AI development poses a threat
to the United States. He said AI affects humanity’s common welfare and urged
parties to promote openness, inclusiveness and shared benefits; he warned that
spreading threat narratives, confrontation or malicious competition will only
interfere with global AI governance and serve none of the parties’ interests.
