Turkey has revoked the operating license of Bank Melat's Istanbul branch, according to an official Turkish announcement. The Turkish banking regulator did not disclose the reasons for the decision. Bank Melat has been operating in Turkey for decades and currently has three branches in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. Bank Melat had previously faced similar restrictions in the UK and EU, but those restrictions were eventually lifted.

On Friday the US, Denmark and Greenland said they had agreed the US would expand a significant military presence in Greenland and bar US rivals from establishing bases there. Denmark's foreign minister said a binding accord expected next week would strengthen Arctic and North Atlantic security while respecting Denmark's red lines; Greenland's prime minister said the deal recognizes the kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity and Greenlanders' right to self-determination and will aid shared security and national development.
