The State Administration for Market Regulation said that during China’s 15th
Five-Year Plan period it will accelerate the national standards system,
converting industry standards into national standards, turning safety-related
recommended standards into mandatory standards, and elevating municipal standards
standards to provincial level to strengthen coordination. It will update
standards across ten traditional industries, develop standards for emerging and
future industries, and bolster national service-sector standards, targeting the
drafting or revision of at least 20,000 national standards, including no fewer
than 1,000 mandatory standards.
