In a report, analysts Ong Tze Hern and Peggie Wong of Affin Hwang Capital Markets Group stated that the reduction in system access fees under Malaysia's Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) is expected to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy projects. The fee will decrease from RM0.20 per kilowatt-hour to RM0.14, improving project economics and potentially driving earlier awarding of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning contracts. Projects must be operational by the end of 2028 to qualify for this policy, which could prompt construction to commence in the first half of 2027. Analysts believe that in addition to large-scale solar project development, CRESS projects are expected to become another growth driver for the renewable energy sector. Affin Hwang maintains an "overweight" rating on the Malaysian renewable energy sector and considers Solarvest and Samaiden to be the main beneficiaries.
