Xiong'an New Area said on Sept. 29 its long-term care insurance, described as
the sixth social insurance, will take effect Oct. 1, 2026, bringing the area
into a six-insurances-and-two-funds social protection framework. The scheme will
initially cover on-the-job employees, retirees and flexible/employed
individuals. Insured persons who experience functional loss lasting six months
or more due to age, illness or injury may apply for a disability-level
assessment; those assessed as severely disabled can choose institutional or home
care with reimbursement rates up to 75% and an annual maximum subsidy that can
lower care costs by up to 21,600 yuan per year.
