Japan Meteorological Agency said rainfall continued in Tokyo on the morning of
the 29th, marking a 34th consecutive day of precipitation in the city—the
longest streak since records began in 1886. Rain has persisted since Aug. 27
under the influence of an approaching typhoon and is expected to continue
through Oct. 1.
