President Trump announced a $6.6 bln investment to build a shipyard at Sparrows
Point, Maryland to produce next‑generation submarines, unmanned underwater
vehicles, torpedo tubes and components for Virginia‑class attack submarines. The
Department of Defense said the facility will be the largest of its kind in the
US; defense firm Anduril Industries will build and operate the yard, investing
$3.7 bln while the US Navy will contribute $2.9 bln. The project is expected to
create more than 3,100 jobs in Maryland and roughly 11,000 jobs nationwide.
