Samsung plans to adopt Winbond LPDDR4 chips in approximately 50% of its TVs starting next year, according to industry sources. The relevant certification tests were completed in the first half of this year. Because the reliability verification standards for TV chips are less stringent than those for mobile chips, the testing was completed relatively quickly. However, as Winbond is a new DRAM supplier for Samsung, the process is currently in the procedural stages of notifying key supply chains and customers and obtaining approvals. Given that negotiations will take time, the actual adoption of Winbond DRAM products in Samsung TVs is expected in 2027. A widening French-German sovereign yield spread and growing market doubts about the ECB's ability to tighten further weighed on the currency: EUR/USD fell more than 0.5% toward a 17-month low near 1.1160, EUR/JPY was down about 0.6%, and EUR/GBP logged a ninth straight session of losses. The Federal Reserve's September minutes showed a majority of policymakers said another rate hike may still be needed before year-end and highlighted rising concerns about upside inflation risks, economic resilience, and strong AI-driven investment that could add demand-side pressure.
