The U.S. Department of Energy approved emergency swap arrangements to release up
to 4 mln barrels of crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to address Gulf
of Mexico weather-related supply disruptions. Under the agreements companies
must return the crude by 2027 and provide additional barrels as premium
compensation; DOE approved ExxonMobil and BP America to each swap up to 2 mln
barrels.
