On Oct. 17 at the Global Wealth Management Forum 2026 in Shanghai’s Suhewan,
Bank of Communications deputy president Zhou Wanfu said low interest rates have
prompted households and corporates to reallocate assets, accelerating deposits
flows into wealth management, mutual funds and insurance. To address
liability-side “deposit financialization,” banks should change operating metrics
from deposit balances to total client financial assets and shift liability
management from deposit gathering to integrated AUM (client assets under
management) operations.
