Local time on the 17th, after several European diplomats were attacked by
Israeli Jewish settlers in the West Bank, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office
said violence against diplomats is "unacceptable." The office urged caution,
saying existing footage does not establish the full facts and it is too early to
draw conclusions. It said the diplomats entered a sensitive area without
coordinating with the IDF and that accompanying personnel included a French
official who publicly supports Palestine. The office also expressed concern
about coordinated actions to "smear" Israeli settlers.
