Kurt S. Altrichter, founder of Ivory Hill Wealth, believes that shopping agents are challenging the platform's intermediary position between consumers and products. He cites an Accenture survey of 25,590 consumers: 85% of respondents are willing to collaborate with agents when shopping, and 74% want AI to complete their shopping tasks for them. He points out that Amazon's stock price weakened after Meta launched the Muse agent; Amazon is now blocking Muse and OpenAI agents from entering its stores to protect its advertising and retail businesses. The attached chart shows that 32% are willing to let AI decide what to buy and then pay for it, while 9% are willing to let AI make purchases independently.
