Iran’s deputy secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Bagheri, said
Iran geographically links Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia and therefore plays
a central role in connecting those separated regions. He said Iran has been the
only country to stand against what he described as the Zionist regime’s
brutality and US aggression and to secure success. Bagheri added recent events
have directly disproved the view that security can be guaranteed by engaging the
Zionist regime, and that regional states are now seriously seeking to build
lasting security and have reached a consensus that they “must seek lasting
security from within the region.”
