China Merchants Bank (CMB) head of asset-liability management Li Li said on Nov.
2 at the bank’s 2026 Q3 results forum that a single-quarter stabilization in net
interest margin (NIM) is a positive signal but is not yet fully secured and the
subsequent path remains uncertain. She said overall NIM contraction is likely to
be smaller than in the same period of prior years. On the funding side, CMB will
push deposit growth while consolidating its low-cost funding advantage. On the
asset side, the bank plans to pursue market and industry-transformation
opportunities to grow loan volume and quality, aim to keep NIM relatively stable
and maintain a relative edge versus peers.
