Hungary's parliament on the 13th passed the 17th amendment to the Fundamental Law seeking to remove President Shu Youke. Under the amendment, the president's mandate would end the day after the measure takes effect and parliament must elect a new president within 30 days. If the president refuses to sign the amendment, parliament may launch impeachment proceedings. Fidesz, led by former prime minister Orbán, and coalition partner the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) called the amendment “undemocratic” and did not take part in the vote.
