The European Commission said on Monday OpenAI’s ChatGPT must comply with
stricter EU rules under the Digital Services Act, including removal of illegal
content and measures to protect minors, or face fines of up to 6% of global
turnover. Brussels is clarifying how existing digital rules apply to
fast-evolving AI services, formally extending DSA obligations to generative AI.
The Commission named Reddit and Roblox for the same designation; X’s AI chatbot
Grok is already under DSA investigation.
