Shanghai municipal marine bureau issued the Shanghai Marine Development "15th Five‑Year Plan", directing policy support to cultivate deep and far‑offshore resource industries. The plan prioritizes R&D for deep‑sea oil and gas development equipment, far‑offshore wind power hardware and advance deployment of maritime nuclear‑powered commercial vessels. It calls for development of core deep‑sea mining vessels and mining vehicles, accelerated marine carbon capture and utilization research including marine carbon sequestration mechanisms and sink‑enhancement techniques, and the formation of integrated deep‑sea innovation industries leveraging deep‑submergence, deep‑drilling, deep‑sea networking and polar capabilities. The plan also targets accelerated breakthroughs in deep‑sea sensors, long‑range communications and navigation technologies.

LONGi Green Energy has signed an agreement with RWE to deploy a utility-scale solar plus battery energy storage system in Sicily, Italy. The project will deliver roughly 300 MWh of storage and will connect to the local grid. LONGi will supply its flagship centralized storage solution, LONGiBank 2.0 (6.25 MWh modules). The product uses a high-safety, liquid-cooled integrated lithium iron phosphate (LFP) design with energy density up to 146 Wh/L and achieves 6,251 kWh per single 20-foot standard container compartment.

Shanghai’s Municipal Ocean Bureau issued its 15th Five-Year marine development plan, calling to build a world-class shipbuilding and offshore-equipment industry cluster focused on high-tech, high-value vessels and large cruise-ship design, construction and operation. The plan targets enhanced design, R&D and manufacturing capacity for ultra-large LNG carriers and development of high-end offshore product lines including oil & gas equipment, port machinery and polar-specialized gear. It mandates a green and digital upgrade across the ship and offshore sectors—prioritizing low- and zero-carbon fuels, green ship energy-saving and emissions-reduction technologies, and green shipbuilding and repair standards—and seeks to scale international transshipment and consolidated cargo services while accelerating development of an international hub port. The plan also directs use of the Shanghai International Reinsurance Registration and Trading Center to strengthen global shipping reinsurance underwriting capacity and China’s independent reinsurance supply.
