Netherlands' seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 4.0% in July from 3.8% in June.

Baltic Dry Index (BDI) fell for a second day, down 39 pts (1.4%) to 2,776 — its lowest since July 31. Capesize index (BCI) slid 76 pts (2%) to 4,376, also a July 31 low; Capesize daily earnings dropped $691 to $36,181. Panamax index (BPI) fell 48 pts (2.2%) to 2,107, lowest since July 31; Panamax daily earnings declined $427 to $18,964. Supramax index (BSI) rose 3 pts (0.2%) to 1,634, its highest since July 28. Handysize index (BHSI) rose 1 pt to 867.

Ukraine’s air force said in a social media post in the early hours of the 20th that Russian forces launched a new, large-scale round of ballistic missile strikes toward Kyiv. It warned multiple ballistic missiles were flying toward the capital from Chernihiv and Poltava regions. Multiple loud explosions were heard in Kyiv and a brief power outage hit the Dnipro district. Kyiv’s air-raid warning remained in force.
