Oct 29 — Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular briefing that
on Oct 28 the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for an end to the
US economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba. Guo described the US
blockade and unilateral sanctions as illegal, in place for 64 years and causing
severe hardship for the Cuban people. He noted the General Assembly has
overwhelmingly approved similar calls 34 times since 1992, reflecting broad
international condemnation of US actions. China said it will continue to support
Cuba’s defense of sovereignty and national dignity, oppose external interference
and the blockade, and again urged the US to immediately cease the embargo,
sanctions and any coercion or use of force against Cuba.
